Statistical methods and uncertainty quantification in antenna and propagation

Context

Many antenna and propagation issues involve phenomena that cannot be adequately described deterministically. This includes uncontrolled disturbances in antenna systems (fabrication tolerances, embedding, near field environment etc.) as well as advanced antenna design methods, but also the complex and highly variable radio propagation environments.

The impact is on radio systems performance and modelling in standards and in software tools, with special application to future networks challenges in localization, energy consumption, latency and throughput (to name a few).The workshop, with both overview presentations and a panel involving interactively academia and industry will allow to share questions, views, ideas and experiences.

 

Programme

The workshop will balance formal presentations made by invited speakers with critical discussions and questions raised by a panel of key experts and industry stakeholders. The audience will have an overview of up-to-date research results and their expected developments in statistical aspects/uncertainty quantification for antenna and propagation, while having these views questioned in their validity and their benefits by the panel of experts and users as well as by the audience
